This is the third and final installment in the How to be an Ally workshop series lead by Alyssa Karounos, for the improv community. This workshop is for straight, heterosexual, and cisgender people to learn the meaning of allyship, learn how to advocate for people of the LGBTQ+ community and other oppressed groups, and have an open discussion about sexual orientation, and gender specifically focused on the Atlanta Improv community.

COMPLIMENTARY. No charge. No fee.

*please note the date change from previous posts and posters

LATENESS:
Due to the sensitivity of the subject matter, we cannot have people coming in and out of the workshop and cannot accept anyone past 7:45pm. However, join us at 9:30pm when the workshop is over, and we open the room and the discussion. =)

The objectives of this workshop series are to start conversations, and give people the tools to take action in making our community better. Don’t we want our community to be more inclusive, and supportive? Our community is not immune to racism, sexism, or homophobia. We are all in this system. Let’s come together to make it a better place for our friends, and family that we love to play with every day.

The time is now! These conversations in theatre/art/film are not going away and we’re always going to have to deal with these things. Not only will this workshop make your a better improviser, but it will equip you to have these conversations in all aspects of art and collaboration.

We will talk about gender, male priviledge, and feminism. We will discuss our current Atlanta improv scene, the problems we face here and in all comedy. And of course, how to be an ally. You will have a greater understanding of the responsibility of an ally and actionable things you can do =)

This is not anti-masculinity, or anti-anything. This is all about love, positivity, and understanding. Let’s come together as a community and have these conversations!
