The Village Theatre is an awesome place to laugh, practice improv, and yes… to volunteer!

We rely on the support of volunteers to make our shows happen. Almost everyone – from the smiling faces at Box Office to the Sound Booth — is a volunteer. Village Theatre is truly a collection of individuals that have come together to create one of the best comedic theaters around.

Who volunteers?
Everyone at VT volunteers in some shape form or fashion (management, directors, cast members, students, friends of the theatre). Show shifts include: Box Office, House Manager, Runner, and Sound. There are also experience cast members who help us with marketing, web design, etc.

Why Volunteer?
Cast members (Thursco, Sunco) who are receiving complementary training are required to volunteer at least 2 full shifts per month (or 4 half shifts).

Having volunteers allows us to put up all kinds of shows from our company members and give the most stage time of any theater.

What does your training look like?
You don’t need any formal training to volunteer as a Runner… just be prepared to take direction from the night’s House Manager and help out as much as possible. To volunteer at the Box Office or as a House Manager or Sound Tech, you must first be trained. Box Office and House Manager training take place once a month; talk to us if you’d like to get trained at Sound.

How do I sign up to volunteer?
Please contact to talk about volunteering and training. Once a month we send out a request for volunteers to sign up. Simple!

What if I’m also taking classes at VT… can I also volunteer?
Absolutely! It’s a great way to spend more time at VT, see a few more shows, and get more familiar with how we keep everything running smoothly.

I don’t think I can help out at shows; is there something else I can do to help VT?
Totally! Send an email to and we’ll get you hooked up with other volunteering-type things you can do.
